Straight cut gears at high RPMs. Your cars reverse gear is straight cut, so imagine how that would sound at 8+k rpms

well they are straight cut gears but probably uses dog type engagement system. "Dog" type transmissions dont use syncros which allows for very fast clutchless shifting, but are very harsh. There is no "dog" cut gears.

If I ever meet you, I may have to get Nemo to slap you silly.
There's a guy that comes down all the time to Humphrey's with a 6spd Legacy GT specB, I thought it was you for some reason the first time I saw it.

The speed related whine was the solid mounted rear end.
Looks like an old BTCC car. In the heyday of the BTCC, there was more money in a top level car than in a new NASCAR Cup car. The Ford Mondeos used destroked Mazda KL-ZE V6s with the cylinder banks cut open and spread apart, and the jack shaft from the transmission run between the banks. The Hondas were even more oddball with triple a-arm suspensions in the front, and H22s leaned back almost to the driver's feet.
