8260rpm Cummins explosion

Post by Bateman » Mon Apr 22, 2019 11:06 am

This is Power Driven Diesels race/ Diesel Power Challenge truck. Had a run away happen at the drag strip and Todd is lucky to have his legs. This is from last years event, but I figured some of you would enjoy the carnage.

960cc's of fuel-16mm injection pump
Unlimited rpm governor in the pump
140mph when shit hit the fan
Air shut off guillotine malfunctioned

Be sure to watch the end of the video and see the truck afterwards.

That's some nasty carnage.
Good news is the camshaft was still in one piece!

Haha those billet cams are some tuff sob's. They chew up factory blocks pretty often from what I've seen.

One day I'm gonna start posting some of the carnage I've been involved in with these race cars over the years.

I found a bunch of stuff on one of my old phones last week that's got all the crazy Middle East stuff on it. I had forgotten about most of it.

Post it up! I bet it would be entertaining.

I still have to laugh about all the rods I've sent through a block, all the spun bearings and all that and a damn 90hp Jeep engine is the worse destruction I've created LOL

I would have clenched up so tight I’d have to take a bottle of exlax a day to get anything outta my ass and even then it would be a very high pressure stream.

I got respect for the man even being able to reach up and pull an air shut off lever. 140mph, truck starts pulling like it's at the 60 foot mark, and then your shut off system fails. Fuck! lol

Not to mention that the second half of this event is him trying to keep it between the walls because the windshield is shattered, sprayed with antifreeze and the cab is filling up with smoke.

Looks like they are ready for UCC. Truck is back together and pulled 2000hp on the rollers last night. That's on #2 only.

I'm not sure on the boost number at 2k HP, but at 1200HP it pushes right around 100psi so 158 sounds feasible.

For those who don't do diesel, this is a 12 valve "dinosaur" No computer, no dynamic timing, mechanically fueled.

There was a sidebar video where they discussed the pass and the data. Since I watched it youtube doesn't show it to me. Sorry, no link.

12V dinosaur sounds gooder to me.

This truck hit a little over 3000 wheel horsepower last night. I'll try to get another vid link. Should have a damn good chance at winning the Ultimate Callout Challenge. The UCC is comprised of drag racing, dyno, and sled pulling all with the same truck.

If a mechanical truck wins the event some people are going to have a stroke haha
