Cobra Tire Discussion

Post by Phoenix » Mon May 20, 2013 11:26 am

Looking at new rims. Most I'm finding seem to come without tires. I want to price some tires online ahead of time.

What are your recommendations for the following rims?

Fronts 18x9
Rears 18x10

Car is lowered as well so a lower profile tired is needed.

Thanks guys.

Well do you get a hard on for stretched bro tires?

If not I would run a 275 width in the front and a 295-315 width out back.

People like those Nitto Invo's or whatever they are called.

No stretch tires for me. I've got the Nitto 555Rs out back now. They're nice. I was sure on the width for the back. Seems people running from 295 up to 335 (probably on 10.5 rims).

I had a 99' GT, lowered 2-2.5", with the rim sizes you are looking at. Here's the for sale link I made when I sold it. It has the rim and tire descriptions, and pics so you can see what it looks like. Only thing NOT mentioned was Kenny and I decided to put a .25" spacer on the rear only to bring the tires flush with the fender well like the fronts. Rear fenders needed to be rolled. Pics taken by Prin after detailing.

I've heard good things about the 295/35/18 in the bfg kdw II's. I would also look at the toyo 888's.

I would like to go to a 305 or 315 in the rear. I can't stand the stretch tire look, JMHO!

Toyo R888s are NOT street tires. They stick like a booger, but they wouldn't last through the summer if you drive the car every day.

What do you want? Gumballs? Econosqueals?

I've been happy with the General Exclaimer's on my vette. They aren't super sticky but they do ok.

X2. They replaced the kdw's (junk) on my wife's mustang. Mucho better! I think hers are 275/35/18 or 45 can't remeber front and 295/35/18 rear.

I had the KDWs on my car and they wore out in 4000 or so miles. I would not recommend them.

Yeah I don't put too many miles on the car but I do daily it for the most part. Don't want to replace a set too soon.

Thanks for the info!
