The engine is reverse flow with the intake/exhaust manifolds on the opposite side of the heads from "normal" engines. I think Audi stuff is done this way as well as most of the new diesel truck v8s.

i would go with a glide, they are cheap to build and hold all the power you will ever put to it. with a turbo car you wont need a lot of gear so no overdrive is not a big deal. i get 18-20mpg in my rustang with the glide and 355 gears. Quit trifling.

A 4bt and 4l80e/47RH/nv4500/whatever would be an infinitely better choice than the rover diesel. Easy to work on, all mechanical, 300+ftlbs and mod-able.
